Equipment

  • Stand Mixer
  • Bowl
  • Knife or bench scraper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Large skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (287g) Flour
  • 1 tsp (10g) Salt
  • 1 cup (250g) Sourdough Starter
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp (10g) Spices (garlic powder, black pepper, parsley)
  • ½ cup (100g) Water

Instructions

  • Add flour and salt to a bowl and set aside.
  • Next, add sourdough starter, olive oil, and your spices to the mixing bowl.
  • Using the dough hook, keep your mixer on a low setting and wait until the wet ingredients and spices are combined.
  • While the mixer is on a low setting, gradually add the flour and salt mixer. The dough will start to come together, but some flour will stick to the sides of the bowl.
  • When you see this, start gradually adding the water until the dough starts to come together.
  • Once the dough has come together let it rest of 5 - 10 minutes.
  • On a floured surface, take a knife or a bench scraper and cut the ball of dough into 8 pieces.
  • Heat up large pan on medium heat with a little olive oil.
  • Roll out your dough while your pan is pre-heating. Tip - If your dough isn't stretching out as much as you'd like, let it rest and then try rolling it out again.
  • Cook your flatbread for 1 - 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • This quick and easy sourdough flatbread is best served warm. Enjoy!

Notes

Doubling the recipe - Just add another cup of discard and that's it! You can keep everything else the same. It will still have the same delicious flavor!
Dough not Stretching - If you're dough isn't rolling out as much as you would like, the gluten needs to rest. Set it aside for a few minutes and try rolling it out again.
